So in never ending quest for repair my phone is still not back. Luckily on Tuesday I got a call from Nokia store regarding N95 (I was on the wait list for a week or so). Needless to say I drove right there and now I’m a proud owner of N95.. This baby rocks. Of course I have the same issues as most people on the net (battery, slow acquisition of satellites for GPS) but otherwise love the device. There’s an issue with it though so I may have to replace it - the screen on the right side doesn’t seem very tight so when I press the buttons on the screen I can hear a bit of a tapping and if pressed multiple times it sounds like a Morse Code transmission (maybe that was the idea behind it) however I checked the floor sample at Woodfield Mall Nokia Experience Center and it was as tight as virgin cooch (insert “bleep” sound here) so today I’m off to the store to talk to the guy that was helping me and see if exchange is in order.
Patiently I’m still waiting for N80….perhaps Nokia thinks I don’t need the device anymore and decided to kill it on my behalf.
Update… April 23rd: I still do not have my phone back from repair. I sent e-mail to Chicago Nokia’s store manager last week (I believe it was monday) and I’m still waiting to see some kind of reply. I do have to say that I called them on Wednesday for the status and was asked to “Call back at 11″. Instead I asked to be called back. About 4 pm on that day I got a call from Nokia rep with “unfortunately I do not have a good news” message but he did acknowledge that Mr. John Doe (let’s skip the names) got my e-mail and they’re really sorry it’s taking that long and they’ll see what can be done. Well…that was last week…so what was done???? NADA, ZERO, ZIP. So my quest to get my phone back from repair, which was bricked by Nokia” is still in waiting phase. I’ll give them a buzz today and see what they’ll say.
On another note I went to the store past Wednesday to get N95 but was told they ran out of stock so I’m holding my breath for a phone call as I was placed on the waiting list for the device. I just hope I won’t turn blue and choke as it may turn out to be the same deal as my repair issue. NSC…get your sh…t together.
So today is Monday, 16 April. I still don’t have my phone from repair. I’ve called Chicago Nokia Store for the XXX’th time and I’m still getting a “finger”… “When we’ll get it, we’ll call you” kind of response. On Friday I called (as instructed per Nokia rep..we’ll skip the names) and was told that the system still shows “Waiting for part”. I told the gentlemen it’s been over three weeks since I dropped it off…is the “part” arriving via horse carriage from China ??? It seems that nobody is willing to go the extra step and put the wheels in motion. This past Saturday I went to the store to check out N95… First of all only one on display… yet the store is stuffed with 5300’s and the internet tablets…cute but if you want to promo the UBER device…for GOD’s sakes…have more than one. So this young guy (Let’s call him Mr. Kia as in Mr. Know It All) comes over and starts off with “How do you like the new multimedia device?”… PHLEASE…Call it all you want but it’s still a phone…albeit a GORGEOUS one..but still a phone… Years ago I recall a skit from SNL about Mango.. “Hey can you tell sun to stop shine, can you tell water to stop being wet… NO… AND SUCH IS MANGO”… So to Nokia… a phone is a phone is a phone.. :-) Back to reality… I told Mr. Kia that I love it and I’ll be back next week to buy it…as soon as I get my N80 back from repair. I did not take my anger out on Mr. Kia..not his fault. He did go up to the manager and mentioned my case. The Manager is supposed to call me today and let me know what the deal is but I am not holding my breath. And one more thing.. I absolutely love Nokia and the store is an icing on the cake but does everyone at the store have to be so stiff??? Not all customers are stuck up Vertu buyers who need to deal with robot-like people. Loosen up…be more friendly.
Well..Happy “After” Easter to everyone. On Saturday Nokia supposedly released N95 for sale at NYC and Chicago stores. Since I’m in Chicago I think this calls for a trip to Nokia store to check out this baby. But first let me say something. I’m getting mad at Nokia. Last year in May when Nokia opened their store in Chicago I was there 5 minutes prior to grand opening. 5 Minutes later I was the proud owner of N80 which made ma their first customer (which also makes me a #1 customer in the US). Not even a year later my N80 became a “bit” slow…it took 5 seconds for screen to refresh after menu key press; so i took it to Nokia store on Michigan Ave. Very nice people. Took my phone and tried to flash it. 15 minutes later the tech came downstairs and told me that during the flashing they bricked my phone. No sweat since it’s under warranty. It was supposed to take 10 days to have it fixed (in worst case scenario 2 weeks). It’s been almost three weeks now and all I get is “When the phone arrives back, we’ll call you back”. So it’s week three and I’m still waiting….forced to use prehistoric era (well not really) Nokia supplied me with a loaner 6030 so credit for that. But COME ON… Three weeks to fix it??? Enough of complaining.. I’m in love now with another babe.. N95.. I drool as I look at the pics and can’t wait until I caress it at the store..possibly today. I will try to post some feedback if I’ll get a chance to do it. Until then… Tah Tah..
